KiwiSAT - Funding

Project Funding

(Unless stated otherwise, all values are given in New Zealand Dollars.)

AMSAT-ZL gratefully acknowledges the many sponsors who have assisted with services or hardware.

This project is funded by radio amateurs through personal and club donations, and by membership of AMSAT-ZL.

1 April 2009

Thanks to the generous support of radio amateurs around the world, we have been able to continue development to be very close to completion.

All donations are being acknowledged and donors will be recognised as part owners of the project. Any contribution, no matter how large or smal, will be of tremendous assistance.

On the large side, various modules are available for individual sponsorship and all donations over NZ$250 (US$150) will be allocated an appropriate module.

The final stage is the most expensive involving travel, testing and the final launch into orbit of KiwiSAT. Sources for this funding have been identified and are subject to delicate negotiation.

Solar Cell Special Funding

With the original target of NZ$35,000 in mind, AMSAT-ZL looked for a major sponsor and found one in the Wellington VHF Group. A unsolicited contribution of NZ$10,000 was presented to AMSAT-ZL exclusively to provide for the necessary Solar cells.

Hands of support - $10,000

At the 2007 Easter VHF Convention, Wellington VHF Group Secretary, Dick Greenbank, ZL2TGQ, presented a cheque for $10,000 to AMZAT-ZL. In response AMSAT-ZL set up a dedicated Solar cell procurement fund.

As the purchase price and expected attachment costs are well short of this amount, AMSAT-ZL is legally bound to return the unused portion of the donation. Negotiations continue towards this end.

Donations to help fund the various stages of KiwiSAT development can be made to the Treasurer of AMSAT-ZL at:
